  Why have you rejected all forms of faith?

  it seems that when a person leaves jw's, there's just no telling where he'll end up spiritually.

  christian, jew, pagan, jamesthomasism -- i dare say every faith is represented among us.. but there are those that reject faith altogether.

  they are often accused of letting the watchtower steal god from them, or throwing the baby out with the bath.. are you one those that rejected faith altogether after your exit?

  Funky, you know I dig you. Unfortunately duty called and many others picked up the ball and ran with it better than I could have. I don't think you can put emotions in the same category as say, bone density in terms of being able to test for it or say that it is "real". None of us can climb into another person's head and know, truly know why they do what they do, we have faith when a person tells us that they love us that they do, and we look for signs that they do, but we can never truly know that they do, we take it on faith.

  I think there are many things in this life we take on faith as the manifestations could be interpreted in so many different ways. Or let's even say the idea of marriage, you want to talk about a leap of faith, will you love me, care for me, in sickness and health, till death do us part? I'd say going into that deal takes a huge amount of faith.

  churches appreciating each other

  yesterday i saw something i've never seen before.

  a protestant church on the left side of the road has a sign saying it's their 50th anniversary.

  there is a rc church right across the street.

  At my wife's church (Roman Catholic) from time to time they have speakers from different denominations, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Baptist, etc. Being raised a JW I was like, wtf, I told the wife that wouldn't fly in the KH.

  I can laugh about it until I look at the picture of the mother holding her child, as a parent that image just makes me want to vomit and beat the crap out of whatever twisted toilet-bug at Bethel who drew that abortion. Edited to add: I've got a sense of humor, even a dark one at times, but somethings just aren't funny, and the death of a child is at the top of that list.

  Where Are All The "Happy" Witnesses????????? :(

  My sister stayed with me for about a week a couple of months ago, she is a pioneer, two sons both at bethel, and married to super elder. She has to knock back about half to 2/3 of a bottle of port every night to get to sleep, which takes her anywhere from two to three hours before she can fall asleep. The picture of robust mental health I tell ya, but I'm sure she would deny to her last breath the borg has anything to do with it.

  I knew two, one was a very old guy that was probably fairly well along into dementia when he died but a nice enough old bird.

  The other was a serious wingnut who last I hear was in prision.

  last saturday, me and a friend from the hall decided to go to nc state fair together.

  i have been told that the state fair is not a big deal in other areas of the country, but here in these parts, it means alot to us, expecially since we live in/near the capital city.

  about the friend: he's a year younger than me, and we go to the same school.

  I remember one of the few times I was stupid enough to go out with a girl from the hall (in my defense she was ridiculously hot) I pick her up (and yeah, somehow her folks didn't get the memo about no solo dates) and while she is putting on her coat her elder dad tells her right in front of me like I'm not even standing there that if I get out of hand for her to get on the phone pronto and he'll pick her up.

  I'm thinking to myself, nimrod, if what I hear about your daughter is true (another one of the reasons I was stupid enough to take her out) I'll be the one calling you unless I have a padlock on my zipper. To her credit, the girl apologized profusely for her dad after we left, after which she went to work on the zipper.

  As Michael Corelone said, That's a true story.

  Edited to add: Didn't mean to horn in on your action Ritchie, just, stupid elder tricks have been around for a long time. Glad you gave it to the guy.
